Thread Lift
About Thread Lift
Thread Lift is a non-surgical, minimally invasive skin lifting and rejuvenation aesthetic procedure using 100% bio-degradable threads to reposition and rejuvenate skin tissues beneath the skin. These threads are inserted into the subcutaneous fat layer beneath the skin from target entry spots on the face and pulled together gently resulting in an instant lifting effect. The threads also restore facial volume and stimulate collagen production in the skin tissues resulting in growth of new collagen over time. Threads can also be used to augment and enhance facial features, especially the nose. There is no need to remove the threads as they will fully dissolve over a period of time.
- Minimally invasive and safe
- 100% dissolvable
- Tighten and lift sagging skin
- Restore facial volume
- Enhance and augment nose
- Stimulate Collagen growth
($440 w/o GST)

Comparison of Different Thread Materials
There are three types of thread materials used in thread lift by doctors around the world and in Singapore. PDO (Polydioxanone), PLLA (Poly-L-Lactic Acid) and PCL (polycaprolactone). PDO is the first material used for thread lift while PCL is the latest. Other than used for lifting, threads have been found in numerous studies to stimulate natural collagen growth for up to 12 months after the threads dissolve, improving skin elasticity.
Perhaps the important question here is which material lasts the longest since the lifting effect subsides after the threads fully dissolve through biodegradation. As the chemical bonds and structure in PCL are stronger and more complex, it lasts the longest among the 3 different materials. For customers who wish to see their enhanced appearance last longer, PCL could be the preferred thread material, and are usually priced 20% – 40% more than PDO threads.
Types of Threads
Threads are designed differently to serve different purposes. It is important that you find out which type of thread your doctor is using for your thread lift procedure, be it in Singapore or elsewhere. There are fundamentally 3 types of threads – they are Mono (smooth), Tornado (twist) and Cog (barb)
Mono threads
Mono threads are normal threads with smooth surface. They are usually implanted in a mesh-like manner to stimulate collagen production for skin rejuvenation helping to tighten and firm skin tissue. Since they have smooth surface, they are not designed to have lifting power.
Tornado threads
Tornado threads have a twist shape and could look like double mono threads intertwined together. They have a volumising effect when embedded in the sunken areas of the skin and also stimulate collagen production.
Cog threads
Cog threads or Cannula threads have a barb or jagged surface designed to hook onto the embedded area of the skin tissues. They act as a support structure to lift sagging skin tissues. They also stimulate collagen production around both the threads and their barbs, making it the ideal type of thread for face lifting and tightening.
Thread Type | Results | Cost |
---|---|---|
Mono | Skin Rejuvenation & tightening | Low |
Tornado / Twist | Volumizing and tightening. Skin rejuvenation | Slightly higher than Mono |
Cog / Cannula | Best for lifting and tightening. Skin rejuvenation | 6 - 7 times of Mono |
Thread Lift Procedure
Step 1: Anesthesia
Prior to the procedure, our doctors will prescribe medication to minimize pain and downtime. We will then inject local anesthesia into the treated areas.
Step 2: Incision
Through a cannula, the threads will be inserted approximately 5 mm under the skin. Due to its thin and flexible design, the cannula causes minimal bruising and discomfort.
Step 3: Tightening
After the threads are inserted into your skin, our doctor will pull the threads to tighten and lift the skin. During the thread pulling process, the threads act as support structures for the underlying skin tissues and muscles. Once the threads are tightened, the thread ends will be cut, and no stitches are required.
Step 4: See the results
Through a cannula, the threads will be inserted approximately 5 mm under the skin. Due to its thin and flexible design, the cannula causes minimal bruising and discomfort.
Thread Lift Price Table
Thread Type | Price From |
---|---|
Mono | $22 / Thread |
Tornado | $22 / Thread |
Hiko Nose | $70 / Thread |
Cog | $180 / Thread |
