The sight of sagging skin, facial lines, drooping eyelids, and wrinkles may need getting used to for some. Well, volume loss is natural and part of the aging process. Unfortunately, these visible signs gradually become prominent. Cheeks become hollow, wrinkles and fine lines appear around the nose, and skin around the eyes sinks. We understand that our clients in Singapore would rather delay the signs of ageing using dermal fillers. Fortunately, facial fillers are good alternatives to provide volume and support for face tissues.
Face Filler Guide
Dermal Filler Benefits
Face Fillers act as a volumizer to refill the volume loss and plump up and support sunken areas on the face. So do they help you achieve a smoother, fuller look? Well, research showed that dermal fillers could be an effective option in the treatment of scars, wrinkles, fine lines, and volume deficiency. That means they could be a treatment alternative for aging skin that requires facial sculpting or contouring.[i]
When the procedure is performed by an experienced doctor, you can expect to derive maximum dermal filler benefits. The idea is to produce imperceptible results that cannot be detected but give you a new level of confidence in your looks.
What are Facial Fillers?
Exposure to ultraviolet rays, reduced collagen and elastin due to aging, and loss of skin moisture are the leading culprits in spoiling your looks as you age. As a result, your skin becomes less supple and elastic.
Facial fillers are soft, gel-like substances used for facial sculpting to lend more definition to your looks. The medical product is also used for facial contouring to reverse age-related changes. The objective is to restore your youthful appearance.
So what makes most dermal fillers so effective as an anti-aging tool? Dermal injections are made of different compounds that are injected into the jawline, cheeks, chin, nose, lips, forehead, under-eye area, and smile lines.
Hyaluronic acid is one of them. As a naturally occurring substance in the skin, hyaluronic acid is believed to keep skin hydrated, plump, and volumized.

Which filler lasts longer?
Stylage filler comprises Mannitol in addition to hyaluronic acid which is an antioxidant that protects against free radical damage deep inside the skin layers. So Stylage can be expected to last longer than Juvederm and Restylane by up to 3 months.
All in all, dermal fillers are safe to use. If you see mild swelling post treatment, it is normal. Applying an ice pack would minimise the chances of swelling. No other treatment is required for this. It heals within a few days on its own.
Experts suggest avoiding alcohol in the event of bruising after treatment with dermal fillers. Besides, it would help to avoid or limit the use of painkillers or NSAIDs, which may worsen the chances of bruising. Avoid taking aspirin for some days after the treatment.
Dermal filler treatment requires no downtime for most patients. That means, you can return to life as usual immediately after the treatment.
However, we recommend not applying pressure to the treated site for at least 24 hours. In fact, you should avoid touching the area or indulging in strenuous exercise for a day. Massage is also a big no for the next 24 hours. A gentle splash with water is absolutely fine to refresh the face. The objective is to ensure healing as the filler settles down into the tissues.
Well, the whole process takes just 30-60 minutes, depending on the number of areas to be treated. The process begins with cleansing the face.
The next step is to clean the treatment site with an alcohol wipe. Following this, micro-cannula is inserted. Finally, the doctor injects the dermal filler.
This is followed up with moulding the filler. Your doctor applies a firm pressure to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling. He may choose to apply antiseptic to the treatment area.
You should avoid taking any blood thinners at least a week ahead of the treatment. The objective is to minimise the chances of bruising post-treatment, and these over-the-counter medications might increase that risk.
In addition, you may limit or avoid alcohol consumption 24 hours before the filler treatment. Alcohol is known to cause dilation of blood vessels, which might cause bruising.
